Fantasy Love Records launches with something particularly special: two obscure, sought after cuts from 1980s Washington-based band Jimmy Bennett and the Family. Both tracks originally appeared on Strata Sphere Records seven-inch way back in 1985, with original copies now changing hands for hundreds of pounds online. The A-side, "Hold That Groove", is indicative of the six-piece band's output, layering deep, spacey synths, slap bass and Bennett's vocal (urging his band mates not to loose the groove) atop a stepping, go-go style rhythm. The flip is, if anything, even deeper, with Bennett whispering and singing sweet nothings over a slow, undeniably intergalactic boogie groove.
