The latest missive from re-born Washington D.C label Al & The Kidd Records should excite those who love the classic Philadelphia International sound. It features previously unheard instrumental versions of all four tracks from the B-side of Jean Carn's Dexter Wansel-produced full-length When I Find You Love. In some ways, it's testament to the quality of Wansel's production and the musicians involved that all four cuts still sparkle without her headline vocals. This is particularly notable on synth-sporting dancefloor bumper "What's On Your Mind", where the rubbery bassline, sharp orchestration and Wanzel's spacey synths take centre stage, and "Lonely Girl In a Cold Cold World", which features some superb, eyes-closed guitar solos.
