James "Jay L" Lewis may not have released many records, but what he has put out is impressively good. His 2012 debut on BRSTL - run by friends Chris Farrell and Shanti Celeste - remains one of the imprint's strongest EPs, while last year's white label "Together" was arguably one of 2014's most overlooked deep house jams. Here, he returns to the former label with two more chunks of quietly soulful, analogue-rich explorations. There's a wonderful swing about the sumptuous synth bass and jazzy beats on "Blue Age", which Lewis cleverly emphasizes via some evocative, jammed-out piano lines. Flip for the chunkier - if no less loosely programmed - "Show Me", where the Falling Up co-founder tips his cap to Chez Damier and Ron Trent.
