Given that Inoue Shirabe's last outing for Antinote was something of a luscious gem, you'd expect this follow-up to be similarly impressive. Happily, it is, with the Japanese producer once again showcasing his soft-centred blend of evocative melodious, dreamy electronics and shuffling rhythms. With its' whistling synthesizer melodies, Motor City flashes and sweaty, pitched-down drums, A-side "Function Spring" sounds like a sunrise anthem in the making. He flips the script slightly on the flip, offering an enticing mixture of Soichi Terada style drums, tumbling electronics, humid marimba lines and vintage ambient house pads. Intriguingly, "Gravitation of Acidtree" is also his most intergalactic track to date, suggesting a previously appreciation of classic Detroit techno.
