The Inhalants collaboration between Opal Tapes artist Patricia and L.I.E.S. synth explorer Jahiliyya Fields first emerged last October when the former posted a queasy techno jam produced by the pair on SoundCloud, and now the project has been formalised with the debut Inhalants record for L.I.E.S. featuring three tracks of brilliantly gnarly techno. As you'd expect, freeform hardware jams are the name of the game here, but there's a pleasing psychedelic streak running throughout; the squealing lead and spectral chord of "Inhalants" hints at Teutonic styles but with a much darker edge, the squeaky clatter of "No Hats" comes across like Container covering Geeeman's "Rubberband2", while the bleep-centric techno of "There Are Cops Around" sounds like it was made by a paranoid Jeff Mills. Once again, another collection of killer tracks from L.I.E.S.
