Indoor Life CD

Indoor Life were one of those free-thinking, jazz-inclined post-punk outfits whose early '80s releases largely slipped through the cracks. Although the German act could be seen as delivering a new wave (quite literally) of krautrock on their two eponymously titled albums, their love of spacey electronics, droning horns and mascara-wearing vocals sounds little like their "kraut" contemporaries. In fact, as this long overdue retrospective proves, they sounded more like an unholy alliance between 23 Skidoo, Cabaret Voltaire and Roxy Music. This double-disc set from Compost Black Label includes all the tracks from their two 1980s albums, along with some B-sides and all-new remixes from the likes of Soft Rocks (a terrifically odd mix of "Voodoo") and Discodromo (Balearic goodness).
