New York jazz-fusion black metal experimentalists, Imperial Triumphant, return with their follow up to 2020's seminal, 'Alphaville', with a project that only further bolsters and complicates their expansive legacy. 'Spirit Of Ecstasy' encapsulates the band's sonic ethos of ranging "from top floor luxury to the rotten underground" with a hyper-dense amalgam of ferocious metallic abandon, avant-garde compositional approach and a ludicrous credence and understanding of the malleability of jazz. Chances are that there hasn't been a black metal project on record to feature smooth, easy-listening jazz saxophonist, Kenny G (check out the dizzying lead single 'Merkurius Gilded'), nor will there ever be again.
