American producer Jason McCracken aka Illektrolab started releasing music over 13 years ago, on labels like Satamile Records NYC and Advanced Robotiks. After a long hiatus, he returned in 2016 on Shipwrec (with the Illahertz EP) and now presents a great one here for London's Brokntoys, which sees the Arizona-based producer further pursue his penchant for dystopian low-end intensive aesthetics. From the in-your-face darkside electro bass of "Robots Need Love Too", to the ice cold minimalist beats of "Nasty Bits" and going out all guns blazing on the menacing sci-fi thriller "Electro Magnetic", it is certainly is a return to form by McCracken - and here's hoping for more releases by him in 2020.
