Although he's released on both Car Crash Set and XL Recordings, the enigmatic Hugo Massien doesn't seem to be too concerned with hip new flavours or passing trends. Instead, he's simply focusing on his own brand of techno, a dreary-eyed, hybrid kind of flex that recalls the later part of the 90s. For instance, "Almost Becoming Lucid" manages to blend aqueous sonics with sharp-edged semi-breaks and dissipating r&b vocals, while "Chemically Minded" blasts out some industrial rave tones for the small hours. The flipside kicks off with "Do's Final Exit", a bleak and skeletal techno bullet, followed by the glacial tones of "0011", and ending up on a sultry bit of sci-fi rolling by the name of "Andromeda Signal".
