Brownswood Recordings' 'Future Bubblers' series has long operated as a stellar showcase of rising stars and up-and-coming talents, with label boss Gilles Peterson doing a great job curating collections that surprise, entertain and inspire in equal measure. Naturally he's done a bang-up job with the latest instalment - the sixth in total - with the nine included tracks maintaining the series quality threshold remains impressively high. Our picks of a brilliant bunch include the smoky, slow-motion soul-jazz of Plumm's 'To Be A Woman (Live)', the subtly Latin-tinged vocal jazz shuffle of Jericho Noguera's simmering, atmospheric 'Keeping On', the deep and dreamy future soul of Victoria Jane's 'Good and Low Key' and the hypnotic, ultra-deep techno-soul of 'Rough of the Felt' by Nowsm.
