Washington DC's Peoples Potential Unlimited come up trumps once more, excavating some prime mid-'80s funk from G.G. & Company. Under the name, local artist Gerald Ward was responsible for one sole release in the shape of the four-track Thinking About You 12" issued on his own GWP Productions in 1984. PPU tell us Ward recorded the 12" fresh from spending time in the studio of Quincy Jones whilst he was producing the James Ingram smasher "Yah Mo B There" and he was clearly inspired. Two tracks from that Thinking About You 12" feature on this PPU presentation, remastered from the OG tapes and sounding wholly fresh. The squiggly P-funk boogie stylings of the title track are complemented well by "Be My Girl" which could easily be mistaken for an early Prince cut.
