Astonishingly, 11 years have now passed since Genius of Time (AKA Swedish duo Alexander Berg and Nils Krogh) broke through with their second single, the now revered 'Drifting Back' on Clone offshoot Royal Oak. While their output has been sporadic since, the pair continue to deliver occasional collections of quality deep house like this one on Oath, which marks their return to action after three years. Title track 'Sunswell' more than ives up to its title, with yearning electric piano motifs and sustained, starry chords riding a breakbeat-house beat and a toasty, warming bassline. 'Taurindo Shuffle' is a driving, organ-rich tribute to classic US deep house with a sub-heavy electro twist, while 'Purple Motus' is a colourful, rubbery and sun-soaked slab of retro-futurist deep house loveliness.
