Stylish Montreal synth-wave duo Essaie Pas has been working on electronic music's fringes for some time, delivering self-released albums every couple of years. For Demain Est Une Autre Nuit, their fourth full-length, sees them graduate to New York's DFA Records, a long-established champion of leftfield dance music. While this move is occasionally reflected in some more techno-influenced compositions (see the dark-room chug of "Facing The Music" and the EBM-influenced, minimal house hypnotism of "Lights Out"), for the most part they've stuck to their principles. That means a clandestine, minimal wave inspired collection of Mascara-clad leftfield pop cuts, drowsy, late-night instrumentals, and highly stylized synth-wave songs.
