Review

As the title suggests, this is the first volume in a series of 12" singles designed to celebrate five years of admirable Dutch label Pinkman. It's naturally packed with previously unheard treats, with a trio of label regulars being joined by newcomer Randstad. Ernestas Sadau steps up first to set the tone, delivering a raw, creepy and paranoid analogue throb-job rich in psychedelic electronic motifs, EBM style arpeggio lines and snappy machine percussion. Alessandro Parisi's "ZeroCool" sounds like a dystopian cover version of the KLF's original 1988 version of "What Time is Love" (that's a good thing, by the way), while Identified Patient's "OCTrax" joins the dots between Nitzer Ebb, Italo-disco and new beat. As for Randstad, the artist's "Glasback" is a dubby, otherworldly treat rich in odd spoken word vocals and gloomy chords.
