Argentina has always been associated with progressive house when it comes to dance music, but the Psyfunk label is changing all that, however, firstly with a great recent compilation that shone a light on plenty of top local talents, and now with a full EP by a trio of the city of Rosario, under the alias of Empathic Decaying Frequency, led by Franco Cinelli, together with Esteban Gutierrez and Lazzade (David Lazzarin). The three tracks display their love of complex grooves that are carefully interwoven with slippery synths and icy percussive pattens. "Empathic" is the most brilliant and tightly woven of the lot, with "Decaying" being a darker groove stuffed with kinetic energy before "Frequency" closes out in beautiful, introspective fashion.
