For his debut album and the first single-artist set from the much-hyped Night Slugs label Toronto-based studio boffin David Psutka aka Egyptrixx has chosen to demonstrate the full breadth of his sonic armoury. The results are impressive and intoxicating in equal measure. Space-age electronic noises zip around furiously like an X-Wing fighter at full flight. The percussion pulses infectiously and the synthesizers swarm. There are moments of off-kilter moodiness such as "Fuju Club" and "Start At The Beginning" interspersed with brain-melting dancefloor assaults like the title track and "Liberation Front". Psutka even veers into sounds that can only be described as Spectrum game soundtracks composed by swivel-eyed robots. As debuts go, you couldn't ask for much more.
