Three years in and "Junk Food" seem set to invade mainstream conscious. Which is no surprise given their sound is so appropriate for today's tastebuds. Attempting to define it isn't easy - perhaps this decade's biggest understatement - but we'll try. Indie jazz experiments with hip hop inflections, dressed in hipster glitter and delivered with a half-nonchalance definitive of so much late-millennial, early Gen Z music. Achingly cool, thankfully the Leicester outfit have talent to back it up. This latest effort is a case in point. Although unlikely to invoke images of what their notoriously wild live shows are like, given "Junk Food" is so smooth, it's still a great advertisement for a great group. "Nice Guys" and its bouncy, garage-nodding ode to the merits of hedonism, "Earth"'s alien-funk, and the downtrodden declaration of just how shit modern life can be on "LS6" are among the best of a valuable bounty.
