Dys Functional Electronic Music is a compilation release from Berlin via Italy's Repitch and celebrates the label's first five years. Label head honchos Ascion, D. Carbone and Shapednoise are joined by a selection of artists who have contributed to the label throughout the years, along with 'guests that inspired them in this adventure.' The label has covered club ready industrial techno bangers through to noisy avant garde experimentalism: before their sub label Cosmo Rhythmatic took over as an outlet for such. This compilation does a great job of supporting the evidence. Voices From The Lake's Nuel goes aquatic minimal electro on the wicked "Biopunk", New York Haunted's Drvg Cvlture makes a surprise appearance on the rough and ready "Dead & Gone" while shadowy Swedish producer Skudge appears as well: on the brooding "Buchla.M1000". Rest assured that the usual suspects appear too: Shapednoise serves up his typically extreme noise terror on "0.1dbhisdoi'fioa" while Asicon & D. Carbone serve up an abrasive IDM experiment on "Dritte".
