1980s music really does keep giving providing you keep digging. Technology and access to that equipment had reached never before seen levels by this point in time, so suddenly the biggest obstacle was imagination itself - so much could be achieved, if you had the right ideas.
As a result those ten years were packed with a particularly bold kind of experimentalism, hence the incredible diversity in subcultures and subcanons, with Drance a case in point. Born out of the queer-industrial scene of Los Angeles in 1989, Latex Love is a great EP to introduce ears to their particularly strained take on electro. Huge waves of synth, growling low ends and instantly infectious hooks set to a lyrical style that sounds like synth pop meets dark fantasy. The original track is here with some excellent remixes by Chris Cruse and Kris Baha, for anyone who wants retro with a contemporary twist.
