Ekster is really pushing the boat out these days. Having recently served up another cracking full-length from eccentric IDM sort Hiele, they've now gone and recruited British electro legend Ed DMX for a similarly quirky, 10-track assault on the senses. While rooted in his usual electro influences, much of The New Age Travellers treads a different path. There are forays into deep Italo-disco and new age electronica ("Approach To Stonehenge"), tributes to British electronic music pioneers (the modular bliss of "Ritual"), nods to classic ambient ("After The Battle"), spacey weird-outs ("Engine"), bright-and-breezy synth jams ("Dayride A303"), and a dash of Radiophonic Workshop weirdness ("Strange Creatures").
