Dark Reference EP vinyl

Hannah "DJINN" Garvey has yet to break through as a producer, despite contributing some tight tracks to a number of well regarded, multi-artist EPS. Dark Reference is her debut solo EP and shows rather a lot of promise. Check, for example, the clandestine creepiness of opener "Nine Grounds", a dark jungle rinse out full of authentic early '90s breakbeat edits, moody aural textures and delay-laden ragga vocal samples. The paranoid darkness continues throughout, from the rolling, bass-heavy bustle of "Destructive Consequence" and dubwise hustle of closer "Pressure", to the sweaty madness of title track "Dark Reference". In other words, it's a superior collection of revivalist jungle workouts.
