Favorite Records' reggae-minded offshoot Stix has been serving up periodic collections of disco-reggae cover versions for the best part of a decade, most created by a core crew that includes Maggy Tatcher, Soul Sugar (AKA organ maestro Booker Gee) and Mato. They all return for volume six, a collection curated by French digger Charles Maurice, alongside new recruit Mystic Jungle, who kicks things off with a sublime take on Roy Ayers' 'The Memory' with vocalist Roxanne. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, with our favourites including Soul Sugar's reggae/jazz-fusion interpretation of Ramsay Lewis's 'Sun Goddess', Taggy Matcher's hard, dub-wise flip of Cymande gem 'The Message', the same artist's roots style shuffle through Bee Gees' fave 'Stayin' Alive', and Matos' lovers rock inspired cover of Isley Brothers' loved-up classic 'Between The Sheets'.
