Review

Hailing from dubstep's spiritual home Croydon, Deft are repping the next generation of bass-tickled creations. And with previous releases on labels as varied as Brownswood and Rwina, they're doing it with aplomb. Deep, dark and spacey (as the Bladerunner reference in the EP title suggests), the entire EP acts as narrative that ranges from slo-mo trippiness ("Tesla's Machine") to emotive, pumping filtered house ("Rising Sun"). Highlights can be found on each of the six tracks but you'd be mad to skip past the skippy, fluoro synth scribbles of "Faded" or the blissed out somnambulant sonic lullaby of "Drive". Deft by name, deft by nature.
