Look Around vinyl

If you keep tuned to the soul underground, you may well already have come across 'Look Around', the stunning first collaboration between New York singer and activist Danielle Ponder and Melbourne-based "cinematic soul" outfit Karate Boogaloo. The song, which was inspired by the Australian bushfires earlier in the year, has been bubbling away for the best part of six months following its digital release and here appears on wax for the very first time. It's a simply stunning concoction, with Ponder delivering classic jazz-soul vocals atop a simmering, heart-stirring backing track rich in intricate instrumental touches and the slowest, most seductive of grooves. Fresh flipside 'Little Bit' is a little more up-tempo but no less impressive. In a word: essential.
