Somewhat remarkably, Mind Control marks long-serving techno and experimental electronica producer Christian Vogel's first solo 12" for almost five years. It's well worth picking up though, because it contains a trio of complex, creepy, clandestine and occasionally cacophonous cuts that are amongst his most impactful productions of recent times. Opener 'Acceleration Morphosis' is atmospheric and mind-mangling, with unsettling drone tones and horror-inspired ambient chords clustering around crackling noise and distant (and metallic-sounding) percussion hits. Vogel drags it towards the dancefloor on the accompanying 'Mind Control' version, re-imagining it as an intense and paranoid slab of spine-tingling techno. Arguably best of all though is 'La Neta', a throbbing and bass-heavy affair that sits somewhere between Autechre and the polyrhythmic techno vibes of the Livity Sound label.
