Conforce's Silent Harbour project has been relatively dormant since its inception in 2012, awakening only once with an album for Deep Sound Channel, back in 2015. It's clear that this is a space in which Boris Bunnik's mind can travel and expand, allowing him to roam more freely on the LP format. In fact, this new album for Denmark's Echocord, Noctiluca, is a sparse and explorative piece of work that sees the artist go way deeper than any of his work under the multitude of aliases through which he releases music. Using dub techno as the main ingredient, these six experiments go from the very abstract to the very concrete, jumping between ambient and techno on a constant basis. While the album's cold exterior helps the tracks to portray a strong sense of melancholia, there is something warm and alluring about its sounds and how they mould into one another. In all honesty, it's dub-techno like we've never heard it before. More Silent Harbour, please...
