Clausell Hickenbottom's 1982 debut single, "Let Me Love You", has become something of a must-have for collectors of boogie-era disco. Original copies of the first Up Right Records pressing remain expensive and hard to come by, making this replica re-press something of a bonus for those on a budget. The track itself is a smooth, heartfelt, soulful gem, with the vocalist's impassioned message of love soaring over a slow dance-friendly fusion of rubbery bass, rich Rhodes, clipped guitars and eyes-closed backing vocals. While there are some standard disco touches - swirling strings, in particular - these merely add a little extra polish to the killer original groove.
