In 1988, Boston band Buffalo Tom decamped to Fort Apache, Roxbury, in order to record their eponymous debut album with friend and Dinosaur Jr. member J Mascis. The resultant set became something of a slow burn independent hit, establishing the band as rising stars of America's alternative rock underground. Here it gets the reissue treatment for Record Store Day 2019, with what appears to be fresh artwork and a suitably loud, re-mastered pressing. The eponymous set remains something of a college rock classic, with the band's trademark "skuzzy noise pop" recalling that of their mentors Dinosaur Jr.
