When it came to recording I Have What I Gave, his first full-length since 2014, Bottin decided to do things differently. Opting for a "stream of consciousness" approach, he recorded the ten tracks spontaneously, often working on several tracks at one time. As a result, there's a frisson of excitement throughout, with the majority of the material offering instant gratification. Musically, it offers his usual synth-heavy blend of Italo-disco, house and '80s pop influences, expanded by subtle nods towards "digital disco" (a micro-house variant promoted by Force Tracks in the mid 1990s), Italian dream house and the warehouse-friendly throb of Kevin Saunderson's Inner City project. Amongst the highlights is "Stellar Parade", a lilting and melodious Italo-disco workout written in collaboration with Alexander Robotnick.
