Bernard Fevre's Black Devil Disco club remains one of the most iconic albums in dance music history. It's a cult record; adored by the underground and largely ignored by the mainstream. In short, it's great on all accounts, and if you haven't heard it's safe to say you haven't lived life at the fullest. Since its release back in 1978, which is still crazy to think about given how contemporary the record still sounds, there have been several attempts at remixing and reworking its timeless tunes, and most of them haven't been half bad. Germany's Benedikt Frey is the man to give it a go this time, and his hazy, deep-minded strains of house feel like the right sort of territory for this task. Luckily, Frey retains the wonderfully sinister synths of "H-Friend", and simply reworks their pattern to fit with a more club-focussed beat structure; on "Path Of Tomorrow", the German producer reworks the original cut into an even darker, more cerebral affair that makes for a great companion edit to 1978's classic.
