Dutch imprint Vintage Voudou launches with something rather special: a fresh 2018 edition of a sought-after 1979 Nigerian album from obscure seven-piece Basa Basa Experience. Originally titled Together We Win - here it's been given a fresh title to reflect it's best-known cut - the album is a thrilling melting pot of Highlife, Afrobeat, disco, early synthesizers and traditional Ghanian sounds. Naturally, it's not all full-throttle dancefloor fare - check the dreamy, relaxed sweetness of "Konya" and the William Onyeabor-with-flutes flex of "Together We Win" - but it's undoubtedly the more raucous efforts that hit home hardest. Check, in particular, the fiery "African Soul Power" (included in both vocal and instrumental variations) and jaunty "Black Light".
