To kick-start their 2018 release programme, Master Phil's eccentric Parisian imprint Edit Du Plaisir welcomes Barnes & Wobble (chuckle), a previously unheard combo that may or may not be a pseudonym for the label boss himself (we know he provided "electronic percussion", as he's credited on the labels). A-side "Sans Algarde" is superb; a fantastically camp, tongue-in-cheek romp through Italo-disco era, hi-NRG hijinks complete with pitched-down French vocals, alien synthesizer flourishes and a killer drum machine solo. On the flip you'll find "Mama Mwen", an arguably Balearic tweak of an electro-era zouk record rich in delay-laden machine drums, freestyle-ish synth stabs and hugely attractive vocals.
