Review

The Barcelona based Domestica Records continue to impress with their reissue programme, switching the focus to 1980s Australia and Melbourne group Artificial Organs. Evolving out of the city's avant-garde scene centred in creative incubator The Organ Factory, Artificial Organs were formed by Ian Forrest and Laurie McRae and with the help of musician friends (including a young Crowded House band member Nick Seymour) explored the potentials of innovative consumer tools for music and recording including Casio keyboards and drum machines, Korg synthesizers, Syndrums and the Akai four-track, quarter inch tape deck. Momenti Mori was the group's sole release, collating recordings from these sessions held between 1980-81 on a ten track cassette which appears in full on this wonderful reissue from Domestica.
