Written, performed and recorded by David Allred & Peter Broderick, What The Frog is an absorbing new album of melancholic ambient on Ghent label Dauw. It opens with the forlorn sounds and lingering brass notes of 'The Foghorn' before a slightly more hopeful piano sequence on 'Cloud Clearing' lifts the spirits. Long sustained chords leave lasting shards one many tracks, with empty space allowing you time to get lost in deep thought. The likes of 'Shadow Diver' are more propulsive with sombre trumpets hanging heavy in the air and making this a truly emotive work.
