Iron Curtis and Edit Piafra return to both their Achterbahn D'amour project and the Acid Test series overseen by Absurb Recordings with yet more jerking, analogue brilliance on Trance Me Up (I Wanna Go Higher). Don't let the EP title fool you, their latest missives are raw, rough and steadfastly not trance! The title track positively booms and rattles its way into your affections, the airy synth lines expertly tussling with endless barrages of deep lying bass and acid infractions whilst the constant bursts of organ give the track a hi-tech jazz sensation. "Adult Movies" is suitably creepy and experimental in tone, with echo-laden percussion and warm swampy bass the bed that insistent guitar rhythms, compressed vocals and dub laden synths spread over. Continuing Acid Test's knack of securing excellent remix commissions, Skudge take over the flip with a booming, stripped down take on the title track, concentrating on tweaking all the energy out of the acid lines on a masterful revision.
