Review

It's been a decade since Moullinex and Xinobi joined forces to launch the Discotexas label. To mark the occasion, they've put together a two-disc retrospective containing "iconic tracks and remixes", plus a smattering of previously unheard jams. These include the first outing from the Discotexas Band, who lay down a chunk of party-starting, piano-laden disco-pop entitled "Family Affair". Highlights come thick and fast throughout, from the muscular Italo-disco chug of Moullinex's "Take My Pain Away" and South African style Afro-disco cheeriness of Throes + The Shine's "Shake The Floor", to the shuffling Balearic deep house of Psychemagik's dreamy remix of Mirror People and thrusting, bass-heavy wobble of Double Damage's sizeable "Sao Paulo".
