Mattia Trani, son of legendary Italian DJ Marco Trani (the most influential DJ in Rome throughout the 1980s), has previously impressed with a gaggle of techno twelves, mostly on his own PushMaster Discs label. This 12" for the shadowy Lunar Orbiter Program label sees him debut a new alias, 051 Destroyer. It seems him turn his hand to a range of largely hard-wired electro-related styles, from the weighty lo-fi thrust of club-ready opener "Digital River" and Braindance-inspired insanity of "Drexciya Descendents", to the wild sci-fi electronics and electro/techno fusion beats of the surprisingly jacking "The Hdyro Return". Closer "Avalon", a deeper, warmer and more relaxed affair with hints of IDM, is also impressive.
