  4. Saverio Celestri - "November Sun" (7:08)
Review: New Berlin imprint Panea is a concept based on sharing the passion for music and "to provide talented musicians, DJs and producers with valuable opportunities." More power to them we say! They're definitely off to a good start when you consider they've recruited a couple of the Slow Life alumni, namely Pepe Villalba; who provides the dusty and broken groove of "Earthbreak" and of course Saverio Celestri with the hypnotic lo-tech soul of "November Sun". Elsewhere, there's other fine grooves by Gustavo Cardenas & Dirty Lemon with the rolling hypno-groove of "On The Basis" and Primary Perception with another lovely excursion in broken beat deep house on "Voicing".

Review: *** REPRESS ** Aaron Carl's 1996 Detroit classic "Crucifix" has become an object of obsession for Millions of Moments with the Japanese label having already released remixes from Quantec and Rob Modell two years ago. On this release, Metrolux boss XDB is at the controls for three different versions with the deep burn of the main remix the most impressive. Comes on clear vinyl with a screen printed MOM logo across the white paper envelope sleeve.

Cat: HUDD 054. Rel: 31 Oct 16
  1. Cycle Psycho (6:54)
  2. Dimension 5 (5:07)
  3. Smoke And Flesh (6:36)
  4. Flying Sausage (7:02)
Review: Slum Science's Hudd Traxx is a label that just won't quit when it comes to proper, head-tripping house music for those who like their grooves serious. That makes Chris Carrier a natural participant, and the unstoppable Frenchman steps up here with a record that proves both his and the label's long-lasting appeal. "Cycle Psycho" is a simmering tech house belter with the requisite amount of funk rubbed into its limbs, while "Dimension 5" switches stance for a nagging acid workout. On the flip "Smoke And Flesh" brings a tougher thrust to the drums and then "Flying Sausage" cools the EP down with a simply fantastic deep house bump to get heads nodding all over the butchers shop.

Review: Robsoul Friends are back with a new EP! After their last track together "Real Juice" & the best track "The Acid", they delivery a solid EP with 2 funky tracks directly in line with their influences. Maybe "Sorry James" is sample from a disco classic (find it!) used by Sneak on Strictly! Still, sub-bassline & vocoder voices here, Chris & Hector have done a remix themselves for this EP! Minority dub like old Frisco track with perfect drums!

  1. El Avion De La Mentira
  2. El Avion De La Mentira (Modebaku remix)
  3. Sequela
  4. Sequela (Ted Amber remix)
Review: The fifth instalment of the Hoxton Records story turns to Alan Castro, who has already had a busy year appearing on the likes of For Club, STAMP and Soundterasse. The vibe is stripped down and unhinged on this record, with lead track "El Avion De La Mentira" unfurling in a strange tapestry of samples, found sounds and off kilter synth rubs strapped to a crafty set of drums. Modebaku delivers a more streamlined version of the track that keeps things freaky, but much more linear than the wayward original. "Sequela" on the flip is no slouch in the adventurous department either, with swathes of modulating tones and wild sonic matter flinging around a funky shuffle, which Ted Amber then dutifully bolsters with a rubbery b-line on his more functional but still daring version.

  1. Crazy Comedy (6:56)
  2. Crazy Comedy (SAM Reshape) (8:43)
  3. Seat 8 (7:26)
  4. Valenteen (6:58)
Review: While newcomer Alan Castro hasn't quite made it through to one of the bigger labels on the minimal scene, his contributions have been keeping the underground heart ticking healthily. His EPs are oftener characterised by intricate, modular patterns that are so favoured right now among the tech heads, and this new single for Arupa Music delivers yet more quality vibes! The title tune "Crazy Comedy" barely stretches out a 4/4 groove in the face of slow, bubbling shards of melodies that lock into a funky, dustpan sort of rhythm; the reshape mix from SAM injects a bumpy, bouncy bassline to lift the tune onto the core of the dancefloor. On the flip, "Seat 8" goes all bleepy thanks to a bizarre jingle of sci-fi harmonics and all sorts of polyphonies gone utterly loopy, leaving "Valenteen" to scrap all the twisted beats up with its eerie, shape-shifting minimal ballad.

  3. Yanee - "Morph" (7:42)
  4. Pedro D' Alessandro & Maxi Fried - "North Market At 3 AM" (7:17)
Review: As you can imagine, the For Club label's modus operandi is to get people onto their feet and nodding those heads. The core of it is that simple - and so it should be! They kick off with this collaborative opener, with Alan Castro's bleeping house experiment to open the festivities, followed rather smartly by Neik and the supremely glitchy "Hippie Futurista". On the flip, Yanee's "Morph" is an itchy groove filled with all sorts of percussive flair, whereas "North Market At 3 AM" sees Pedro D'Alessandro and Maxi Fried construct a beautifully funky little house number with an elegant swing.

  2. Bass Hook (6:47)
  3. Scattered (7:09)
  4. Druscot (7:20)
Review: Argentinian Imprint For Club welcomes local artist Matias Spataro aka Cazaux for its second release. A four track EP that's said to be straight off the dome - it is indeed some fairly heady and hypnotic faire for fans of minimal house on the Limbo Glock EP. Kicking off with the title track - a bumping and shuffling affair with somewhat tropical rhythmic elements, reminiscent of Vinyl Club boss Luc Ringeisen's work. On the flip, he picks up the pace with "Scattered" an emotive microhouse jam guaranteed to make you sweat, while closing track "Druscot" is a dusty, woozy reductionist number on the analogue tip, that's perfect for the afterhours and will appeal to fans of similar sounds by Robin Ordell or Birdsmakingmachine.

Vis A Vis (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: SL 15. Rel: 18 Apr 17
  1. Feudade
  2. Vis A Vis
Review: Baby Ford's minimal minded label is back in action with some psyched-out goodness from Alex Celler. The long-serving Greek producer has many strings to his bow, but this release finds him tapping into his foundational sound as a steady ticking groove carries a richly produced bed of chimes and tones for the deepest moments in the dance. Where "Feudade" is a lilting, soothing trip, "Vis A Vis" heads into a more mysterious headspace peppered with nagging rhythmic trysts, crafty licks and fulsome bass to get the synapses popping. It's exactly how stripped down house music should be done, inventive to the last and yet utterly danceable.

Deyo (12")
Cat: ACRE 071. Rel: 24 Oct 17
  1. Deyo (7:15)
  2. Kasoa (6:18)
Review: Founder and leader of the Banana Hill parties out of Sheffield, Cervo has started churning out some seriously bad-mannered house music as of late. Interestingly, his devious blends of 4/4 dance recall the same sort of experimentation and freedom as Toddla T's tracks, the main star to have come out of Steel City. The man debuts on London's Black Acre with these two spicy rave bangers, kicking off with the smooth and liquid-like "Deyo", before turning everything into a bumpy stomp on the more acid-laden "Kasoa". The main thing about these two tunes is the funk running deep in its veins - boom!

  4. Desorientado (feat Sabino) (6:50)
Review: Following up a great release as Azimute with good pal Philippe Quenum on Cocoon, Cesare 'Vs. Disorder' Marchese returns on Vakant with more quality minimal tech-house on the 'Ararapira Jazz' EP. From the deeply hypnotic and rolling subtlety of "Dinner With Bogdan" to the title track - which comes in two versions. The original being a bumpy and swing-fuelled grove on the deeper tip (perfect for the early evening or after hours alike) while the remix by fellow Italian Spacetravel (Perlon) goes for that old-school techno futurism reminiscent of early '90s Sheffield techno. Finally on the flip, "Desorientado" (feat Sabino) is more familiar of this veteran producer on this druggy and tripped out reductionist jam.

Review: Known most for his TC Studio work alongside Matei Tulbure, Traian Chereches has latterly taken to working in a solo capacity and demonstrated an equal degree of aplomb for unique rhythms and joyful sensations. Fans of the Romanian's work will delight in this double pack on his and Tulbure's prospering TC Studio label with the six tracks on Lobster Club really showing Chereches' full production range. Proceedings begin on an abstract note with "Wald 1975" memorable for some bold vocal sampling, though tracks such as the tumbling "A New Beat" and "Orchestra Rehearsal" will provide more than enough dancefloor satisfaction.

Review: Lorenzo Chiabotti resurfaces on FUSE's vinyl-only INFUSE offshoot with what may well be his most high profile release to date. The former Moscow Records and Monologue Music man starts in confident fashion on side A, unfurling the quietly melodious, rolling tech-house-funk of "Esc One", before diving deep into murkier waters via the creepy electronics, foreboding chords, heavy UKG bass and skipping beats of "Blondie Brownie Beat". It's on the flipside, though, where you'll find the strongest dancefloor moment: the buzzing bass, punchy tech-house beats and metallic electronics of title track "Each One Teach One".
