Voyage EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ETHRC 002. Rel: 29 May 18
  1. The Offering
  2. Symmetry
  3. The Afterlife
  4. Droplets
Review: Having kicked off his Etheric label with the Origins EP earlier this year, Leonardo is back with more adventurous machine music for the spiritually inclined dancefloor. "The Offering" has a dark and moody tone thanks to the snaking synth line wriggling its way through the track, perfect for eyes-down submission as the strobe blinks slowly. "Symmetry" is a more open affair, all soft top chimes and vapour blasts pinging around an easy electro beat, while "The Afterlife" strikes somewhere in the middle with a tougher, club-minded sound that still favours a sunnier sound palette. "Droplets" is the consummate B2, shrugging off the dancefloor rules of the previous tracks to trip out in a dubwise atmosphere that further strengthens the quality of what Leonardo is up to.

Origin EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: ETHRC 001. Rel: 09 Apr 18
  1. Hieroglyph
  2. 8
  3. Birdcage
  4. Land Of Warriors
Review: After debuting on Alan Fitzpatrick's We Are The Brave digital label, Leonardo wastes no time in launching his own label Etheric as a vessel for his own productions, and he serves up a potent brand of tech house built for maximum club damage. "Hieroglyph" has plenty of gaseous tones, but it's a rock solid party track at heart, while "8" matches airy synths with a tough beat in a truly uplifting combination. "Birdcage" shuffles on a stripped down, slightly swung groove and "Land Of Warriors" breaks things open with an adventurous trip into broken rhythms and dramatic musical motifs.

Open Space Is The Place EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: TR 030. Rel: 08 May 17
  1. Anubis (6:49)
  2. Housepacer (5:14)
  3. Ripstyle (6:11)
Review: Doing things properly and building up a DIY phenomenon from their base in Zurich, the Les Points crew have brought a fresh, daring originality to the house and techno scene with their gritty outboard approach and a wide range of stylistic tendencies. Taking a break from releasing on their own label, Audino, Barbir, Louh and Nicola Kazimir have been invited to the evergreen Trelik to broach their music to a wider audience. From the blissful space techno groove of "Anubis" to the tightly wound beats of "Housepacer" and on to the cranky acid funk of "Ripstyle", this is yet another distinctive transmission from the plucky Swiss crew.

Cat: MNK 002. Rel: 25 Jan 16
  1. The Wax (5:28)
  2. Drumcatch (Tomoki Tamura remix) (7:04)
  3. Poetry (5:12)
  4. Drumcatch (5:53)
Review: After the success of the first release by Ivan Iacobucci, Holic Trax sublabel Monoklo now enlists Berlin-based Martin Lewis for three hot tracks featuring a remix from label boss man and Japanese don Tomoki Tamura. No nonsense opener 'The Wax' is a supple, rubbery roller with sparse stabs accompanying the infectious groove. "Poetry" then sinks down into a more warming and human groove, with smeared synths bringing colour and heat to a loose house groove, before Lewis shows his skills at choppy techno with "Drumcatch". Tomoki Tamura also remixes this latter track, stripping it right back to a suggestive, infectious final groove with feather light percussion, skewed chords and involving sub bass that laps at the heels of the track.

Cat: MVN 002. Rel: 19 Jun 18
  1. Create (7:31)
  2. Create (Monika Ross remix) (6:58)
  3. Overthinking (7:18)
  4. Overthinking (Alex Ground remix) (7:12)
Review: Austria's Philipp Lichtblau serves up the sophomore effort for his Vienna based Movin' imprint - which is not only a label, but also an event series at Vienna's Pratersauna and Sass Club. He has released numerous EP's on labels such as Traum sublabel MBF Ltd, Kina Music and ETE. Following up a great split EP with German minimal hero Ben Rau, Lichtblau strikes again with "Create" which is perfect modern tech house: rolling and hypnotic just the way we like it, and will appeal to fans of Djebali or iO (Mulen). Second original offering "Overthinking" follows on the flip, but it is all about Italian Alex Ground's tremendous remix - he delivers a boompty, swing-fuelled deep groove - which will be perfect to get hips moving on afterhours dancefloors.

  1. Life Is Full Of Funk (6:36)
  2. Malfunktion (8:05)
  3. Gravitational Voyage (10:41)
Review: The Soul Designer is coming at you again! The legendary Fabrice Lig serves up some more top grade, high tech soul, this time for Marc Romboy's always reliable Systematic imprint which is on form at the moment. The usual nods to the Motor City are ever present once again with track titles like "Life Is Full Of Funk", but there's more quality to be found on second offering "Malfunktion" (featuring his signature SH 101 baseline in full effect) and the wonderful "Gravitational Voyage" which showcases his other trademark: emotive soul. This rich and engulfing track features razor sharp arpeggios, gushing dub chords and all-consuming pads on the kind of track you could expect to be played by Derrick May or Laurent Garnier to push the crowd to the next level.

More Or Less EP (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: MTH 07. Rel: 04 Sep 17
  1. More Or Less
  2. More Or Less (Ney Faustini remix)
  3. More Is More
  4. Less Is More
Review: Bar a few scattered appearances here and there, this 12" for Mentha marks Bruno Limma's first fully-fledged outing, although you wouldn't think it listening to the quality contained within this release. "More Or Less" is a brooding dub techno trip with the chords coloured in dark hues for the ultimate wintry experience, which Ney Faustini then nudges up into a sleek minimal house cruiser. "More Is More" takes a funkier route into scatty rhythms and strange samples, albeit with an inherent warmth pulsing somewhere in the middle of the surrealism. "Less Is More" rounds the EP off with a more reflective piece of techno for quieter moments.

  2. Faster - "Return Of The Gain" (7:37)
  3. Floog - "Down Town" (7:39)
  4. Iuly B - "Returns" (7:37)
Review: The latest 12" on RORA offshoot Bleu Ciel is an all-star affair, with a quartet of artists contributing to the imprint's first compilation-style EP for two years. Romanian combo Lisiere Collectif steps up first with "J-1103-14", a typically atmospheric affair full of wonky late night motifs, shuffling percussion and creepy, early morning vocal snippets. Faster delivers a rock solid, beefed-up tech-house roller ("Return of the Gain"), before Floog reaches for the organs on the bumpy tech-house/deep house hybrid "Down Town". To round things off, Iuly B lays down the EP's deepest and dreamiest moment: the becalmed, head-in-the-clouds warmth of deep-tech shuffler "Returns".

  4. Zvest (Nima Gorji remix) (7:48)
Review: Romania's favourite sons Robert Precup & Silviu Sandu aka Livio & Roby return on the ever reliable local imprint The Rabbit Hole - which is finally back after a couple of years laying dormant. The Bucharest based duo follow up some great releases on Drumma, Mulen and Politics Of Dancing to present some looped-up and tripped-out grooves that roll deep - particularly heard on the sublime "Lereseti" (which gets a super retro and hypnotic rework by Shoxy up next) and the reductive afterhours journey "Zvest". This particular track can also be played at more peaking moments during the day or night - thanks to NG Trax head honcho Nima Gorji's electric rendition that follows on the B side.

ENDZ 011 (limited clear yellow splatter vinyl 12") (1 per customer)
Cat: ENDZ 011. Rel: 02 Dec 16
  1. Ion's Move (9:23)
  2. Mystical Sayings (10:24)
Review: Romanian producer Lizz is the latest guest star to light up the consistently on-point Easternderz label. A-side "Ions Move" is particularly potent, with cyclical melody loops and spacey electronics crowding around a stabbing acid bassline, crispy cymbals and chunky drums. Tension is cannily built thanks to the use of an extended breakdown midway through. While that has a slightly creepy, foreboding feel, flipside "Mystical Sayings" is a beacon of fluttering positivity. Its crystalline melodies are in perfect harmony with the producers dreamy chord progressions, bubby synth bassline, and crisp, rolling beats. It could well be the better of the two tracks, and they're both rather good.

Cat: ENDZ 013. Rel: 17 Mar 17
  1. Lizz - "Music" (10:14)
  2. Doubtingthomas - "Just Saying" (7:32)
Review: East End Dubs' Eastenderz label has a thing for brightly coloured "splatter" vinyl. This split artist 12" is the imprint's third consecutive foray into the world of patterned wax, and looks set to be as popular as previous outings. Romanian producer Lizz handles the A-side, wrapping sustained note chords and jaunty electronics around a tactile, acid-influenced synth bassline and crunchy tech-house beats. On the flip, fellow label regular DoubtingThomas returns with the quietly impressive "Just Saying". A little more introspective than the A-side, the track features the winning combination of hypnotic, locked-in tech-house beats, woozy, Orbital-style chords and a bassline so rich and sugary that you might feel pangs of toothache.

Roots (12")
Cat: DESOLAT 060. Rel: 28 Feb 18
  1. Roots (5:56)
  2. Roots (instrumental) (5:53)
Review: Desolat head honcho Loco Dice finally takes the reins again, with his new groove entitled "Roots" which follows up top releases by Alvaro AM, Francisco Allendes & Pablo Inzunza. This is a crunchy, stomping, lo-fi tech house excursion that shows another side to this legend's musical repertoire. Moreover, it sees the him reflecting on his musical foundations and his connection to his proud hometown Dusseldorf, as well as Detroit and beyond. Think of this as a taster of his brand new long player entitled Love Letters, which will be released later in 2018. Dice's recent past has seen the master of robust house and techno funk serve up killer remixes of Moby's classic "Go" and his eclectic Underground Sound Suicide full length
