Infusing influences from Africa, Asia, and Latin America with European techno and house, Dominik's signature sound shines through. It comes with three previously unreleased tracks in 'Manana Tepotzlan' (feat. Gotopo) [Vocal Version], 'Tecolotin' (Chancha Via Circuito Remix), and 'Tecolotin' (Dub Version). Review: Over the last few years, El Buho has become one of Wonderwheel's most reliable artists. "Ramas", a collaborative set that sees him join forces with like-minded producers and musicians from around the world, sees him return to Nickodemus' imprint with his first studio album for two years. In keeping with much of his catalogue, the collective collaborative tracks fuse a mixture of downtempo grooves, Latin beats and tropical rhythms with folksy instrumentation, picturesque vocals, humid electronics and subtle nods to a myriad of interconnected downtempo styles. The results are largely hugely enjoyable, with our favourites including the dubby Afro-Cuban shuffle of "Cancuban" (with M Rux), the gorgeously wide-eyed and sun-soaked Baiuca hook-up "A Minha Fraga" and the soft-focus shuffle of "Kuuma" (with QOSQI).

Review: Matanza member Rodrigo Gallardo has long been interested in the "folkloric traditions" of South America .....El Origen is his attempt to incorporate these traditional sounds, rhythms and instrumental tropes into a contemporary electronic music setting. His original productions - all fluttering flutes, gentle acoustic guitars, warm electronics and evocative vocals - are showcased on the A side, with pal and fellow Chilean Nicola Cruz providing his own interpretations on the B-side. Naturally, his revisions tend towards the more cosmic and dancefloor-friendly, but also retain enough elements from Gallardo's original tracks to not be too revolutionary. Crucially, all Cruz's versions are superb.

Review: Gitkin first came to wider attention last year with the release of the 5 Star Motel album on Wonderwheel. The globetrotting US label is the perfect home for his wayfaring sound, all twanging guitar ruminating on the way of the road, and now he's back with a compact 7" that features more of his seriously funky instrumental jams. There's a whiff of Omar Khorshid and other such oriental guitar maestros in the worldly jams Gitkin commits to vinyl here. "Saint Claude Dash" especially has the party spirit in its bones, while "Chicha Nola" sports a folky quality that inspires cheer from the get go. Wonderful instrumental delights from a supremely talented troubadour.

Review: Nickodemus' 2005 debut album Endangered Species makes it not to vinyl for the first time ever here thanks to Wonderwheel Recordings. The album is rooted in the New York hip hop sound of 2005 with plenty of mad turntable skills of the sort that the DJ would showcase at parties on the Hudson. The music serves as a great snapshot of what was going on in the scnee back then, 16 years ago, and features a big list of great guests including the likes of Jay Rodriguez and Jonathan Maron of the Groove Collective, plus Carol C of Si Se, Will Holland aka Quantic) and Stimulus of The Real Live Show amongst many more.

Coming to his very own Wonderwheel Recordings, Soul & Science is a befitting name thanks to the seeming fusion of electronically-programmed dance beats and regional organics, but this is also one of those albums that could also potentially shatter the hard border between the two connotations. Review: This is a global single with a great story that starts with an afro-funk groove made by Italian Jah Sazzah. He wanted a vocal for it so turned to Nickodemus who handed his own touches and then sent it Grammy-nominated Colombian vocalist Jimena Angel. The result is a vibrant Afro tune with vivid melodies. Remixer Poirier is a legend in Latin music circles. The Montreal man has formerly been associated with Ninja Tune and is synonymous with lots of classy remixes and fresh takes on a modern Afro-Caribbean sound. This is another one that reworks the ring into a more bouncy and infectious sound with gorgeous vocals and a clean arrangement that allows the drums and perc to shine.

Review: A limited double 7" from Nickodemus's essential summer compendium of the same name, "Turntables On The Caribbean" takes four of the album's finest sun-splashed Cuban and Caribbean gems for your party pleasure. "Rive" is loaded with Latin lashings of funk and a sprightly samba slap, "La Ciudad De Le Eterna Primavera" takes us on more mystical Peruvian jaunt while "Aguacero" is a stately moombahton pop track splashed with premium levels of Calypso soul. And if that's not enough, the perennial Poirier shuts up the shop with a beautiful piece of favela house "Pale Mal". Beautiful.

Review: Nickodemus initially rose to fame as resident DJ and co-promoter of NYC's Turntables On The Hudson, a deliciously eclectic party with a clear international flavour. That particular aspect comes to the fore on Turntables On The Caribbean, a sweltering, sweat-sweet collection of Cuban, and Cuban-inspired music. There's naturally much to admire throughout, from the cheery reggae-tinged strut of Poirier's "Pale Mal" and the heavy hip-hop dub of ZEB's "Rude Boy Style", the the dense tropical rhythms of DJ Jigue Y La Tumba Francesca La Caridad De Oriente's "Rine", and the Cuban funk shuffle of BOSQ's "Tumbrala".
