Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You
Review: The 1975 made plenty of fans happy when they announced a series of 10th anniversary reissues and merchandise on the back of some top main stage performances at the likes of Leeds and Reading. Now art-stars with a global fan base, it is a full decade since their breakout self titled debut, a record full of their signature choruses, magical melodies and soaring grooves that draw on electro-grooves and alt-rock energy, all with plenty of dreamy moments in between to ensure the whole thing plays out like a real story telling album. As it should be. The album debuted at number one on the charts and remains a firm favourite today.

The 5 Seconds of Summer (10th Anniversary Edition) is a nostalgic celebration of the band's pop-rock origins, the infectious melodies and energetic rock vibes that marked their rise to fame. Featuring classic hits like 'She Looks So Perfect' and 'Amnesia', the latter showcasing their versatility with its stripped-down acoustic sound, while deeper cuts like 'Voodoo Doll' and 'End Up Here' remind listeners of the band's growth over the years. 'Kiss Me, Kiss Me' stands out with its infectious energy and the live arrangements add an extra layer of excitement to the song's performances. Review: Early arrivals don cardboard masks of 5 Seconds of Summer, blown up to thrice their usual size. It's as close as many will get to the Aussie lads tonight, with dry ice and a low stage obscuring them from view. This visual absence, coupled with the venue's steamy atmosphere, creates a pop-punk rave vibe - fitting for 5SOS's pivot to arena-ready anthems on their debut. The set spans their evolution from YouTube covers to teen idols. Wildcard moments like the psychedelic 'Voodoo Doll' and acoustic 'Amnesia' punctuate the night, but new material dominates. Opener 'She Looks So Perfect' sets the tone, channelling Blink-182 for a new generation. 5SOS amplify their pop sensibilities: 'Don't Stop' drives a simple riff to emotional heights, while 'Good Girls' repurposes 80s power ballad synths into tear-stained pop-punk.Despite radio-friendly polish, 5SOS's shift to mainstream pop feels genuine. Their vocals transform them into heartthrob crooners on 'Kiss Me Kiss Me'. This pop pivot suits their songcraft, with melancholy no less affecting when paired with power chords and arms-aloft choruses.their yearning songcraft perfectly, the melancholy heart of 5 Seconds of Summer no less affecting when tethered to power chord orthodoxy and following the shortest laser-guided path to the arms-aloft chorus.

Review: A-Ha's Foot of the Mountain, originally released in 2009 and now reissued on stunning crystal-clear vinyl, finds the Norwegian trio confidently blending their signature melancholy with lush synthesiser-driven arrangements. Often reflective and mature, the album bridges their 80s synth-pop roots with a sophisticated, contemporary sound that underscores their enduring artistry. Tracks like 'The Bandstand' and 'Riding the Crest' burst with vibrant analog synths reminiscent of Depeche Mode, while Morten Harket's unmistakable voice elevates every melody to transcendent heights. The title track, a rousing highlight, is rich with introspection and layered instrumentation, showcasing the band's knack for crafting timeless pop. 'Shadowside' and 'What There Is' delve into deeper emotional terrain, with themes of depression and longing delicately explored through soaring choruses and string-laden arrangements. Even with its wintry undertones, Foot of the Mountain radiates warmth through its craftsmanship and poignant lyricism. The elegant 'Sunny Mystery' and the atmospheric 'Mother Nature Goes to Heaven' further demonstrate the trio's ability to innovate while staying true to their sound.
This album has the quality and ability to impress old fans and gain new ones.

Review: The newly reissued A Hard Day's Night captures The Beatles at the height of their early brilliance. Released during the frenzy of Beatlemania, the album shows John Lennon and Paul McCartney's unstoppable songwriting partnership. From the iconic opening chord of the title track to the infectious energy of hits like 'Can't Buy Me Love' and 'I Should Have Known Better', it brims with youthful exuberance and sheer musical craftsmanship. While Rubber Soul marked a shift towards experimentation, A Hard Day's Night thrives on its confidence and irresistible pop-rock melodies. The film songs on Side-1 deliver unforgettable moments, but the overlooked gems on Side-2 reveal the band's deepening musical sophistication. With tight harmonies, catchy hooks, and electrifying performances, this is a reminder of The Beatles' unparalleled ability to blend fun with musical mastery. Even today, A Hard Day's Night stands as a landmark album that is always a welcomed reissue to press and enjoy.

Using the original 1964 master of the fab four's breakout second album, UMR have successfully surmounted yet another reissue campaign of The Beatles' second-most star moment. Review: Dread Locks Dread, originally released in 1975 on KLIK Records and reissued by Front Line in 1978, stands as one of Big Youth's most defining albums. Known for his innovative DJ style, Big Youth's chant-like toasting brought a melodic, rhythmic energy to socially charged lyrics, making him one of reggae's most distinctive voices in the early 1970s. This album, featuring the legendary Skin, Flesh and Bones band with Lloyd Parks on bass and a young Sly Dunbar on drums, delivers a blend of punchy reggae rhythms and deep, immersive dub. Produced by Tony Robinson and Errol Thompson at Joe Gibb's studio, Dread Locks Dread shows Big Youth's ability to elevate classic reggae tracks with his unique vocal style. Highlights include 'Some Like It Dread', a reinterpretation of Dennis Brown's 'Some Like It Hot', enriched by bluesy harmonica, and 'Marcus Garvey Dread', a fiery version of Burning Spear's anthem. The album also features a brilliant take on John Holt's 'Keep on Moving' and a dub-heavy version of the Techniques' 'You Don't Care'.

Review: Indeed, The Energy never does seem to die; The Black Eyed Peas' era-defining dance-pop and EDM record The E.N.D. is receiving yet another UMR reissue, this time on gatefold vinyl, breathing freshened life into such enduring cheese bangers as 'Boom Boom Pow', 'I Gotta Feeling', 'Imma Be' and 'Meet Me Halfway'. A significant departure from the Peas' previous albums, which were more mawkish and hip-hop intoned, The E.N.D. heard the band veer full cyberpunk and 'tronic, riffing on still-hot Y2K fervours even after ten full years into the century. We gotta feeling: the night you cop this reissue will be a good night, one tinged with childhood nostalgia (and a surprising rediscovery that the beats on this thing bang much, *much* harder than our older, sophist's ears might have first expected).

Review: To mark the 25th anniversary of Hooray for Boobies, the Bloodhound Gang have reissued their infamous third album on splatter-coloured 180g vinyl, giving fans another chance to dive into its wild mix of genres and humour. Originally released in 1999, this album catapulted the band to worldwide success, selling over four million copies and topping charts everywhere. Musically, it's a collision of rap-rock, punk, and electronic beats, packed with cheeky, often absurd lyrics that have become the band's signature. 'The Bad Touch', the album's standout hit, is driven by a playful, catchy synth line that pairs perfectly with its notorious lyrics. Elsewhere, 'The Ballad of Chasey Lain' blends rock energy with humorous storytelling, while 'Mope' is an eclectic mix of samples, pulling from sources as diverse as Metallica and Pac-Man. This reissue also features three rare remixes, including a hyperactive Eiffel 65 version of 'The Bad Touch', a sultry take on 'The Ballad of Chasey Lain' and Pet Shop Boys' extended remix of 'Mope'.

They have toured the country offering orchestral renditions of legendary dance hits and shows have proven hugely popular Seth older ravers who like to hear the classics that remind of their youth, bt also need to be in bed by 11pm. Originally released back in 2016, the album achieved immediate success and reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, which was in fact Tong's first chart-topping album. It features orchestral versions of iconic tracks like Faithless' 'Insomnia' The Shapeshifters' 'Lola's Theme, 'and Energy 52's 'Cafe Del Mar' with guest performances by vocalists such as Cookie, Katy B, Ella Eyre, John Newman, and Jamie Principle. Review: The Cardigans' The Rest of the Best is a magnificent compilation for fans, offering a deep and comprehensive look into the band's lesser-known gems with B-sides and rarities spanning 1994 to 2006. This two-volume compilation, carefully curated by the band, brings together tracks that were originally B-sides on singles, part of soundtracks, or bonus tracks on international versions of their albums. Remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, the songs are presented in a pristine format, ensuring that each track shines. Part 1 here, captures music from the early demos like 'I Figured Out (Demo '93)' and 'After All... Demo '93' to the UK version of 'Rise & Shine' and the Puck version of 'Carnival.' This package offers a nostalgic journey through the band's evolution. Standouts like 'Plain Parade,' their cover of Thin Lizzy's 'The Boys Are Back In Town,' and the haunting 'Mr. Crowley' reveal the depth of their artistry. The thoughtful inclusion of photographer Martin Bogren's artwork, who has been with the band since their inception, adds a personal touch, making this release feel like a true labour of love.

Review: The Cardigans' The Rest of the Best is an essential compilation for longtime fans, offering a comprehensive look at the band's B-sides and rarities from 1994 to 2006. Spanning two volumes, this collection brings together tracks that were previously released as B-sides, included on soundtracks, or featured as bonus tracks on international editions of their albums. Carefully compiled by the band and remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, these songs are presented in top-notch quality. Here is part 2, which continues the gathering of lesser known non-album works. Going into the new millennium at the time, to have sessions tracks like 'For What It's Worth' and 'Communication' are particular exciting to get a feel for the band performance wise without any outside distractions or fans in a live setting. The last side is also very worth of note for the material presented. Closing things on a high note in a row are the brilliant 'Slowdown Town', and 'Give Me Your Eyes' with the powerful 'Slow' as the last song. The Cardigans, who first made waves with Emmerdale (1994) and Life (1995), gained international fame with hits like 'Lovefool' from First Band on the Moon (1996) and 'Erase/Rewind' from Gran Turismo (1998). Their sound evolved with the mellow, country-tinged Long Gone Before Daylight (2003) and the energetic Super Extra Gravity (2005). Following a hiatus and a 2006 tour, they reunited in 2012, continuing to captivate audiences. With over 15 million albums sold, The Cardigans' enduring appeal is evident in their extensive discography and dedicated fanbase.

Review: Boy George was a key figure in London's Blitz Club scene of the early 80s and with Culture Club he helped define the New Romantic movement that led the so-called "Second British Invasion" of the US with their 1982 debut album, Kissing to Be Clever. A number five hit in the UK and a global success at the time, the album featured the smash hit 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me' and the lively 'I'll Tumble 4 Ya'. Blending new wave, pop, reggae and soul, their genre-crossing sound and bold fashion continue to influence today's artists which is why this one now gets a special reissue for National Album Day.

Review: Alternative rock and Goth legends The Cure were at an all-time high in popularity as they embarked on their 1993 tour across Europe. Enjoying the result of their most successful album Wish, the band was to take on their biggest world tour yet. For the previous two tours, there was no proper full recording of the band live by the group themselves. Robert Smith wanted to change that and a handful of shows were recorded to be edited together for the live albums Paris and Show. Paris shows the power of The Cure's new lineup which featured a new drummer, keyboard player and guitar player. Like most Cure concerts, the setlist is a varied mix of brand-new tracks at the time (Apart and A Letter to Elise) many classics (Figurehead, A Charlotte Sometimes and Shake Dog Shake) but then always a sprinkle of lesser-known ones like 'Dressing Up'. This edition is the 30th Anniversary release of the evergreen original.

Review: There is plenty to draw you into this special release for Record Store Day 2024 before you even drop the needle on the record. The romantic cover with its overtones of balmy nights by the sea, the lo-fi design of it all, but also the slightly kitsch sub-title -The Romantic Guitar Of Amancio D'Silva. The music is just as good thankfully and is now available on vinyl for the first time since it was first released back in 1971. It is a cult fav that has often be listed for well over three hundred quid before now and was released as part of the Lansdowne Series, overseen by the influential Denis Preston, one of the UK's first independent record producers. All the tracks are instrumentals and include pieces by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, and Hoagy Carmichael.
