Future Nights (3:02)
Acidsexmagic (6:02)
Chemistry (9:09)
Review: Probably the most straight ahead sounds we've ever heard come from the studio of German electronic music maestro Uwe Schmidt. His latest offering via The Bunker NYC features three dancefloor effective cuts, albeit delivered in his quirky and ever futuristic fashion. A side track "Future Nights" sounds like Schmidt's take on Millsian style minimalism with vocoded loops atop, while the slow burning 303 sleaze of "Acidsexmagic" is a smacky downtempo trip for the chill-out room. On the flip, strap yourself in for the hypnotic and tunnelling trip that is "Chemistry" that will have you surrendering to the void at some point during its epic nine minute duration.

Review: New York techno club The Bunker expands operations with the launch of a new label The Bunker New York. Despite the calibre of artists that have played the club over the years, includes Regis, Silent Servant, Marco Shuttle and Peter Van Hoesen in the past 12 months alone, the first release from the label opts to highlight one of the "characters who lurk in the shadows of the party" in the shape of Leisure Muffin. A Bunker regular otherwise known as Michael Hopkins, Leisure Muffin's music is produced with a modular synth setup and is described by the label as a "modern take on kosmische music". Apparently produced last year as Hopkins looked after his dying mother, and is supposedly influenced by early Warp Records artists like Seefeel and Autechre, as well as Drexciya, Coil, and recent Morphine retrospective subject Charles Cohen, with whom Hopkins has previously collaborated.

No Affection (5:46)
Just Stop It (4:56)
Too Familliar (5:19)
Review: 'Sensitive booty house' from Brooklyn-based producer Max Ravitz. If the name sounds familiar, that's probably because recognise his work under the alias Patricia, which has been released on respected labels like L.I.E.S., Opal Tapes and Spectral Sound over the last few years. An avid listener of booty house in his youth spent in Chicago, Ravitz could appreciate the genre's energy, but couldn't relate as much to its lyrics. With his new alias Pizzaboy, we see him 'flip the archetype and make consent-focused lyrics' on the "Deep Dish EP". This can be heard on the intense opening track "No Affection" featuring his now signature style of bassline over frantic 808 rhythm patterns. This is followed by the stripped-down warehouse techno of "Just Stop It" which is more familiar of Patricia's understated style.

Emona
Coptos
Delmenium (10:29)
Review: Long running party-turned-label The Bunker New York has in the space of a year become a reliable source for forthright techno. This latest missive continues that theme, delivering a second collaborative Romans EP from Gunnar Haslam and acid obsessive Tin Man. They go in hard from the off, blending extended analogue bass, metronomic rhythms and wiggly acid lines on "Enoma". There's a classic bleep feel about the ghostly chords on "Coptos", which seemingly float above a hard-as-nails techno groove. They seem to soften a little on "Delenium", which pairs the uplifting, end-of-night ethos of progressive house with classic Detroit techno sounds.

Clay Wilson - "E4" (Patrick Russell remix) (8:21)
Romans - "Coptos" (Patrick Russell remix) (5:59)
Zemi17 - "Rangda" (Patrick Russell remix) (6:22)
Review: Best-known for his extended DJ sets at Detroit parties like No Way Back, Patrick Russell steps into the studio to deliver this remix EP. It's clear that Russell has brought his years of experience behind the decks to this task. He turns Clay Wilson's "E4" into a blissed out, grey noise-led down tempo track, while his take on Romans' "Coptos" sees him go for the dance floor jugular with a dense, percussive rhythm shot through with insistent acid bleeps. Best of all though is his take on Zemi17's "Rangda". Its beautiful melodies and chiming rhythm makes for a deep, seductive track that'll work on more discerning dance floors.

The Casual Mystic
Throne Of Bubbles
Nanook
Review: The revolution will not be televised but The Bunker New York will be heard. So far this year Clay Wilson, Voices From The Lake and Turkish artist Lot.te have helped the nightclub-turned label make their stamp on 2014 following their inauguration by Leisure Muffin in January. This time around it's local talent Ulysses who delivers the goods; "The Casual Mystic" has a real Tropic Of Cancer vibe to it with moaning basslines, softly hissing snares and guitars, while "Throne Of Bubbles" is a disjointed mess of drums, percussion and one hell of a bassline. The final track "Nanook" sounds like DeepChord and Dadub collaborating to produce something of a soft and syncopated feel that lands somewhere in the uncharted world of instrumental dub techno. Watch out!

How Does It Feel To Feel? (8:36)
Object Of Interest (6:21)
The Mascara Snake (5:32)
Review: In the press release to promote Ulysses' latest EP on The Bunker NYC, the producer muses at length on the definition of techno, and his desire to break the rules. So, while opener "How Does It Feel To Feel" bears many of the hallmarks of experimental, industrial-tinged techno - dark noises, throbbing kick-drum patterns, distorted electronics, and so on - it weighs in at a house-friendly 121 beats per minute. "Object Of Interest" moves further away from techno's "safe space", with intergalactic electronics and bubbling synthesizer stabs riding an out-there, IDM inspired broken rhythm. As for "The Mascara Snake", it sounds like the sort of long lost, slowed-down Japanese synth-pop jam that many would consider "Balearic".

Start Up Drive (4:39)
In The Back Room (5:43)
Just A Little Late (5:41)
Walk The Distance (5:11)
Review: The Bunker New York rarely mess around when it comes to techno. With a few notable exceptions, their releases are rarely less than thrillingly forthright and intense. Certainly, this surprise EP from veteran techno producer Mark Verbos - a man whose discography stretches back over 20 years - fits that remit. Flitting between acid-laden psychedelic intensity ("Just A Little Late"), high-octane loop jams ("In The Back Room") and sweaty, all-out assaults on the senses (the metallic madness that is "Start Up Drive"), it portrays Verbos as a masterful producer of no-holds-barred dancefloor techno. Interestingly, he diverts a little from the script on the EP's final moment, "Walk The Distance", combining sparse dub techno rhythms and ghostly electronics.

Respiro (live edit)
Review: It seems that we are currently in the midst of a production purple patch for Donato Dozzy and long may it continue! The recently formed label The Bunker NYC is the latest to act as conduit to the Italian's finely crafted techno in the form of some new material from Dozzy's Voices From The Lake partnership with Neel. The genesis for the Velo Di Maya EP dates back to Dozzy and Neel's night long curation for the Brooklyn club in the summer of 2012, playing two live sets consisting entirely of unreleased material. With plans afoot to expand The Bunker into a label, the possibility of scooping up some of this material was mooted to Voices From The Lake with us and you willing recipients of the results. If you fell in love with the 2012 LP from Voices From The Lake you will find the three tracks here just as captivating with a live edit of "Respiro" a current favourite at the Juno office.

Trickles In The Dark (6:12)
An Army Of Crickets (5:28)
Remission (7:21)
Review:  Given that one of his previous projects involved creating a robotic gamelan orchestra, it is no surprise to learn that Aaron Kuffner approaches techno differently than the majority of his peers. On his latest release for The Bunker, Kuffner's adventurous sound is audible throughout. The title track is a high-paced tribal affair, while "An Army of Crickets" sees him veer into a grungy corner, where a soupy bass and a low-slung, muddy rhythm prevails. Kuffner explores other, quite different avenues too; "Wading" is a low-slung, moody rhythm, while "Trickles" is a bubbling, melodic groove, with all of the intricacies of an Indonesian funeral dirge.
