Down Under (feat Colin Hay) (3:27)
Wanna Stay (feat Dear Sunday) (2:28)
Wanna Stay (feat Dear Sunday - Fred V remix) (4:30)
Review: Men At Work's 80s hit 'Down Under' gets a LUUDE-icrous drum n' bass remix from the Aussie producer here, bringing flighty breaks and air to a timeless, fluting classic. Here, the original song's bassline is swapped out for a slow droning reese, while Colin Hay's acapella retains the rawness of the original recording made in 1980 - despite this actually being a re-record for Luude gifted by Hay himself. This limited 12" also comes complete with a B-side, 'Wanna Stay', which includes a hat-and-snare-clacking new remix from Fred V - let's embark on a new walkabout and wander the outback to this gem.

Luude & Bru C - "TMO (Turn Me On)" (feat Kevin Lyttle - Borai & Denham Audio remix) (3:13)
Luude & Mattafix - "Big City Life" (3:57)
Luude & Issey Cross - "Oh My" (feat Moby) (3:50)
Review: It's time to sweat it out once more with the latest from the label of that name absolutely going for the big time with some classic vocal stabs defining the rip-snorting opener. And that is the extended mix of Luude & Bru C's 'TMO (Turn Me On)' (feat Kevin Lyttle) which is a big drum & bass anthem with ragga vocals, unrelenting and steel plated drum funk and naughty bass. A slightly more sweet and soulful Borai & Denham Audio remix also features as do Luude & Mattafix's anthem and festival friendly jungle anthem 'Big City Life' and similarly epic and accessible 'Oh My' with Issey Cross and some blissed out keys from one of Moby's classics.

Try Again (extended) (5:42)
Try Again (Ben Miller 4am Afro dub) (5:42)
Try Again (David Penn remix) (5:55)
Try Again (Holseek remix) (4:25)
The Boy Is Mine (feat Rosalie - Sasson remix) (5:25)
Review: James Mac and Vall have combined on this new deep house cut which leans heavily on a classic sample from some two decades ago. 'Try Again' is tense emotionally and physically with deep cut, well-defined grooves topped with the smooth vocal coos and rising synth tension. A Ben Miller 4am Afro dub then brings more skip and funk to the rhythms while Davi Penn keeps things tight and tech-y with his version. The Holseek remix is wired up with some twisted synth paranoia last of all is 'The Boy Is Mine' (feat Rosalie - Sasson remix) to close down this throwback EP.

Deep House
The Boy Is Mine (6:20)
The Boy Is Mine (Funkerman remix) (4:36)
Review: As far as r&b cuts go, they don't come much better or more loved than 'The Boy Is Mine', but that hasn't stopped James Mac and Vall from serving up their own version of it in a new deep house framework. They start off with warm rolling drums and embellish it with lush piano chords full of melancholy then Rosalie reins the vocal up top. It's as catchy and heartfelt as the original. On the flip is Funkerman with a much more raw and direct remix that has crisp drums and plenty of snares fills as chunky bass funk hits hard below.

Review: Glossy disco beat maker and silky synth-smith Purple Disco Machine really leans on the OG pure one, Prince, for the opening track on his Soulmatic album. It's filled with electronic funk, twisted vocoder vocals and big licks that will work on a wide range of dance floors. Elsewhere his collab with Boris Dlugosch, 'Love For Days' is a dazzling vocal house anthem thanks to the seductive sounds of singer Karen Harding and 'Devil In Me' feat Joe Killington & Duane Harden is a cover like you have never heard before. This special Record Store Day reissue is limited in numbers and sure to fly off the shelves.

Opposite Of Crazy (feat Bloom Twins - The Emperor Machine remix) (8:00)
Loneliness (feat Francesa Lombardo - Art Of Tones remix) (4:57)
Review: Acclaimed German producer Purple Disco Machine is back on Australian label Sweat It Out this week with some hot remixes of his track 'Opposite Of Crazy'. On the A side, you've got veteran Andy Meecham aka The Emperor Machine delivering a typically spaced-out disco dub remix, followed over on the flip by another legend in the form of Ludovic Llorca aka Art Of Tones, who lends his magic touch on a summery and feel good disco remix of 'Loneliness' featuring Francesa Lombardo.

At The Disko (extended mix) (6:34)
Don't Stop (extended mix) (6:28)
Review: When it comes to blurring the boundaries between Defected style accessible house and revivalist disco, Purple Disco Machine is arguably in a league of his own. The German producer has certainly ticked all the right boxes with his latest 12", which features two club-length extended versions of two excitable, festival-friendly workouts. A-side 'At The Disko' is a perfectly pitched chunk of bouncy nu-disco/house/p-funk fusion rich in vibrant synth sounds, spacey synth-strings, Nile Rodgers style guitar licks, energetic piano stabs and autotune-heavy vocals, while flipside 'Don't Stop' joins the dots between K.I.D's thrusting disco classic of the same name, the Munich Machine hedonism of Giorgio Moroder and breakdown-heavy classic house.

Hands To The Sky (feat Fiorious & House Gospel - Floorplan Justified remix) (7:58)
Money Money (The Cube Guys remix) (5:46)
Review: The unstoppable Purple Disco Machine is back! The German DJ/producer serves up two nifty reworks here once again on Aussie label Sweat It Out. On side A, you have the one-and-only Robert Hood under his Floorplan alias giving 'Hands To The Sky' (feat Fiorious & House Gospel) the Midas touch on his Justified remix. The legendary priest-cum-DJ from Detroit serves up an uplifting and life-affirming house rendition, as do Italy's Roberto Intrallazzi and Luca Provera aka Cube Guys on their remix of 'Money Money' reminiscent of early noughties funky house.

Devil In Me (extended mix) (6:14)
Devil In Me (PDM club dub mix) (6:21)
Devil In Me (Fatboy Slim remix) (5:39)
Review: Built around a central Stax Records gem from the late 1960s, Purple Disco Machine's 'Devil In Me' is an emotional disco-house burster that reappropriates the staunch voices of Judy Clay and William Bell's 'Private Number'. But the function of this track isn't to evoke mournful blues 'motion more than it is to get you up and dancing; truly, the hard edges and funk bounces of this track will 'bring out the devil' in you too. Fittingly, it comes to a blood red vinyl 12" edition.

Exotica (6:25)
Exotica (instrumental) (6:24)
Review: This one has been long delayed due to Purple Disco Machine's previous tune 'Hypnotised' blowing up the worldwide spot, but finally it sees the light of day and is only likely to further fuel the hype ardour the guy. 'Exotica' is a timeless disco cut with something for everyone - strident drum grooves, nice tropical percussion, well treated vocals and vocoders and cosmic synth explosions. The instrumental removes the call and response vocal but either one of these is destined for big things well into the New Year and beyond.

Fireworks (3:22)
Fireworks (instrumental) (3:23)
Review: Having fired out some seriously good hybrid nu-disco/house tracks last year, Tino Piontek AKA Purple Disco Machine begins 2021 in typically confident mood. This time round, he's joined by vocalist Moss Kena and New York based nu-disco duo The Knocks. 'Fireworks' is short and sweet, but cheerfully funky and positive - all synthesized steel pan sounds, choral chorus vocals, Olly Murs style lead vocals, Nile Rodgers guitars and disco grooves so chunky and addictive they might not leave your head for several weeks. The quality of Piontek's backing track can be explored further on the flipside instrumental, which is every bit as alluring as the vocal take and - in our opinion - is arguably even stronger.

Review: Aussie alt-dance stars Rufus made a huge splash with this, their debut album, back in 2013. At the J Awards of 2013, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year, it also debuted at Number 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and produced big singles like 'Sundream' and 'Take Me.' It's dance-y, festival ready pop music for the masses, but done with style and melody, such as on the glistening opener. 'Modest Life' with its summery flutes, heat melted pads and clean vocal style is another irresistible gem while 'Unforgiven' shows off another more late night sound.

On this album, the Sydney-based artists effortlessly transcend various styles, revealing their own sonic realm. This is a captivating tapestry, woven with echoes of club culture from bygone eras, while maintaining an infectious sense of being in the present moment.
