Cosmic Stream (cream vinyl 12" + hand-numbered insert limited to 300 copies)
Cat: SLPVNL 005. Rel: 01 Jul 16
Deep House
  1. Cosmic Stream (9:19)
  2. Cosmic Stream (Trinidadian Deep remix) (6:03)
  3. Cosmic Stream (Life Recorder remix) (6:47)
Review: Dan Piu is the real name behind Allstarr Motomusic, and the artist is back with his second release, this time on Soul Print Records, after his storming debut for Deep Explorer last year. "Cosmic Stream" is an exact description of the murkiness and spaced-out oddities that take place on the groove, an airy and enchanting collection of sounds that find shape and momentum thanks to the house formula. The tune is remixed first by Trinidadian Deep into a sublime tribal hypnotizer, and then into a more techno-minded bomb by Life Recorder. Blissful from start to finish.

Under The Winter (pink vinyl 12")
Cat: SLPVNL 008. Rel: 02 Nov 18
Deep House
  1. Midnight (feat Greg Blackman) (8:27)
  2. False Leads (7:57)
  3. Under The Winter (feat Sio) (8:28)
  4. Mountains (feat Alex Hand) (7:34)
Review: Fast-rising house producer Mark Hand makes his bow on Serbian stable Soul Print Recordings. Surprisingly, it's the Belgrade label's first release of 2018. It's rather good, too, with opener "Midnight" - an impeccable fusion of yearning Motor City electronics, Larry Heard smoothness and impeccably soulful vocals by guest singer Greg Blackman - providing the undoubted highlight. There's plenty to tickle the fancy elsewhere across the EP, too, from the ultra-deep house/jazz-house fusion of the Sio-fronted "Under The Winter", to the rubbery synth-bass, jazzy electric piano solos and delay-laden horn solos of Alex Hand hook-up "Mountains". Stellar stuff all told.

Yesterday For Tomorrow (coloured vinyl 12")
Cat: SLPVNL 006. Rel: 14 Apr 17
Deep House
  1. Leonid - "Urania 1" (9:31)
  2. Leonid - "Urania 2" (8:54)
  3. Laak - "SP" (6:12)
  4. Laak - "Waiting For Tomorrow" (7:11)
Review: The sixth vinyl missive from Soul Print Recordings is a double-header featuring two tracks apiece from Leonid and Laak. The former handles the A-side, laying down two deliciously intergalactic chunks of spacey deep house. On "Urania 1", he wraps psychedelic acid lines, supernova chords and Motor City melodies around a snappy drum machine groove, before working the acid lines further on the deep and hypnotic "Urania 2". Laak takes over on the flip, peppering a bouncy, off-kilter drum machine groove with cyclical melody loops and undulating acid lines on "Sp". "Waiting For Tomorrow" is arguably even better, with the fast-rising producer wrapping a tactile, synth-bass heavy backing track with fluttering electronics and sunrise melodies.

Hope In The Soul EP (hand-stamped clear blue/black marbled vinyl 12")
Cat: SLPVNL 002. Rel: 08 Oct 14
Deep House
  1. Hope In The Soul
  2. Night Moves
  3. Hope In The Soul (Simoncino Spirit mix)
  4. Hope In The Soul (Simoncino Pressure dub mix)
  5. Hope In The Soul (Simoncino Morning mix)
Review: Under the name Life Recorder, Marseille-based producer and selector Kriss Kortz has steadily built his profile over the past few years, with some high profile appearances on Aesthetic Audio, Bokhari and Appian Sounds wedged in his discography. The latest Life Recorder transmission comes via Soul Print Recordings, and sees the two original A Side productions complemented by a clutch of Simoncino reworks. Both "Hope In The Soul" and "Night Moves" are redolent of the brand of deep house Kurtz has been developing across his output with the former particularly dreamy. It's "Hope In The Soul" that Simoncino devotes his attention to on the B Side with three differing reworks that climax with the sublime Morning mix.
