Review: After many years operating under his own name, George Langham first donned The Sixteen Steps pseudonym back in 2017 for an industrial and EBM themed split EP on Cititrax. Save for a collaborative cassette release with Autumns in 2018, Residents (The Lifeblood) marks his first release since. The three original productions on show inhabit similar sonic territory, with Lanham peppering a chunky, hypnotic techno beat with sharp industrial electronics and fractured riffs on 'Trinxat', before doffing a cap to the greats of EBM on sleazy techno number 'Operation La Mora' and the Nitzer Ebb-esque 'The Wages of Sin'. Credit 00 does things differently on his remix of 'Trinxat', brilliantly re-imagining it as a moody, alien-sounding electro workout.
