Review: In its original form, "Trans" was one of the dancefloor highlights of Matt Edwards' second album as Radio Slave, 2017's Feel The Same. Here, the dark and stylish original - think alien new wave synth-pop from 1983 re-imagined as a Panoramabar-friendly workout - is given a makeover by two titans of the electronic music scene: Innervisions overlord Dixon and Detroit techno stalwarts Underground Resistance. Naturally, Dixon's rub is weightier and more obviously big room-friendly than Edwards album cut, with the foreboding original synth bassline and bubbly electronic flourishes being joined by weightier drum hits and bold new melodic motifs which fire "Trans" towards the stratosphere. In contrast, Underground Resistance's revision is fuzzier, wonkier and more hypnotic, albeit with a little disco surprise here and there.

Review: Matt Edwards once said that he works best when using just a few elements, and he applies that thought process to Vision with devastating effects. The title track revolves around a tight, fat drum loop, chilling synths and filtered, nagging percussion. Completing Edwards' 'less is more' sound is a pitch-bent vocal that pops in and out of the arrangement with a druggy awkwardness. It sounds like remixer Marcel Dettmann is in favour of a similar technique. The MDR boss leaves space for the vocal and eerie synth line, but sets it against a groove so murky that it's hard not to get lost in its swampy depths.

Review: Having already been played by every big name known to man (Hawtin, Garnier, Holden, Coleman, Lawler, etc), the Wink remix of Radio Slave's "Screaming Hands" sees the light of day! If you aren't already on board, the track is a monster! Wink's version is even a higher calibre than we are used to out of him, meaning he outdoes himself! A slow builder with lots of twists and turns and exploding FX bursts all around. It's the kind of record that even if someone just started DJing like yesterday, it would still annihilate the dancefloor. Flip it over for Vitelli's remix and you have a deeper neo-trance version.

Review: Matt Edwards returns with yet another dirty, thumpin' basement jam on Rekids with "The Clone Wars." Always known for his stripped back, minimal style of house; a robotic voice which repeatedly states "Copy" over a tight 808 groove until the female vocals eventually kick in. But just wait for that siren and typically wacky Radio Slave melody to kick in. For the more adventurous among you; there's an instrumental which focuses more on the drums, an acapella and tool which focuses on the aforementioned melody.

Review: Rekids signal a change in focus after the raft of Nina Kraviz related remix releases and instead turn to a classic from the archives of label boss Matt 'Radioslave' Edwards for a pair of fresh remixes. It would be hard to find two more diverse remixers than Mr G and Prins Thomas, but both turn in superb reworks of the 2008 Radioslave bumper "Tantakatan". Mr G calls shotgun and his self styled Nighttime Dub is a wonderfully dirty analogue groover that takes Edwards' original production into notably darker territory with those deep dubby chord stabs overshadowed by rumbling bass. Naturally Prins Thomas takes a different approach, implementing an acoustic guitar to replay the stabs and using live drums for a loose, laid back groove. There's a notable dose of reverb and delay used throughout that lend this Diskomiks a real druggy feel.

Review: 'Another Club' was the 100th release on Rekids, which was released around the time that the label celebrated a decade in the business and becoming an anthemic tune in the process. Two years on, we now receive remixes from two of the genre's biggest artists. KNTXT's Charlotte de Witte delivers a ferocious rework, capturing the feeling of trancing out on a strobe-lit dance floor in a clandestine warehouse. Over on the flip, label chief Radio Slave teams up again with Patrick Mason as SRVD, where they revise the track into another slamming peak time version defined by its razor sharp Reese bassline that roars throughout.

Review: You always know what you are going to get from Radio Slave, and that is high functioning techno that never fails to make an impact in the club. The man behind the music, Matt Edwards, is one of techno's most enduring and consistent performers and he confirms that again here with the pair of bangers on his own Rekids label. 'Acid Dip' has punchy, funky drums that hammer home the groove with big, bouncy hits bring further dynamics as an occasional slaying synth sprays across the face of the tune. Devastating. 'Armani' is a brian-frying, loopy, synth-heavy workout full of texture.

Review: Rekids' special Record Store Day 2018 release features two extraordinary re-edits: of recent Radio Slave tracks by Pampa boss DJ Koze. Taken from his Feel The Same album, Matt Edwards has certainly received a brilliant rendition from the Hamburg legend right here.The euphoric remix of the title track still features the looped-up diva vocals of the original and is exactly the kind of track you'd expect him to drop on a Sunday night one of his his regular appearances at Panorama Bar. On the flip, the hard hitting and tunneling "Reverse" is more on the techno tip and originally appeared as the B-side to 2017's Overdue EP. Both edits are secret weapons for any serious DJ's set.

Review: Radio Slave has really amped up his relasing game lately, and it shows on 'Wait A Minute', his latest collaborative release shared with rapper Nez. The eponymous track has been out for a while already, and actually doesn't appear in its full original form here, with the A instead occupied by a stonking remix from Dixon - which fleshes out the track in the vogueish mode of harder-hip-techno. Radio Slave also offers up 'Don't You Know' on the B, a vocal soul sample-inflected floor infector of the hypnotising variety.

Review: In an interesting move Matt Edwards has decided to revisit two tracks from his touring, chopping up "The Black Lodge" and "Mood" to create solid, functional releases that keep a set propped up nicely. First up "The Black Lodge" chugs away in a dry atmosphere, with only the reverb decay of brittle drums for company, while freaky scrapes provide about as much light relief as you could hope for in a DJ tool. "Mood" is equally focused on the flip, finding the perfect loop and working it into a techno framework (even if the beat is a touch more house!)

Review: What did Matt Radio Slave Edwards do over the New Year's period? Was he ripping up the decks in some post-industrial clubland or reflecting quietly at the moon with a bottle of lighter fuel? Whatever the Rekids boss got up to, it worked, as he's started 2011 in blistering form with this latest release on his own label, following on from reworkings of classic Skint and Strictly Rhythm material and an awesome one-sided 12 inch on 2020 Vision late last year. As much as we like the sprawling house decadence of opening jam "Let It Rain", it's all about the B Side here, with "Suffa Groove" characterised by a gloriously demented piano line, chopped up vocals and thumping tech house beat.

Review: Well, well, well, we didn't expect this one: Radio Slave in piano house mode. The man who has made a career off dark, rolling, wall-rattling and proudly linear techno releases on his mighty Rekids label shows a totally different but equally essential side here. 'Strobe Queen' is a slow burning, slow-release pleasure built on low-slung mid-tempo drums and overlaid with glorious piano chords that speak of joy and happiness. Eric Kupper removes a little of the polish, ups the dust and adds his own vocal mutterings over the top for something more zoned out.

Review: Radio Slave's most recent single, the trippy, string-laden and subtly disco-influenced deep house after-party workout 'Wake Up', gets the remix treatment, with two artists renowned for delivering delightfully wayward dancefloor epics at the helm. Kompakt favourites Superpitcher steps up first, placing the original's oddball (sampled) spoken word vocal atop a hypnotic, subtly changing bed of acid motifs, warming chords, hypnotic house drums and delay-laden Rhodes chords. Over on side B, the Idjut Boys retire to their shed, potter about a bit, and return with a typically mind-mangling, dubbed-out take that's most likely amongst the darkest and most psychedelic things they've ever released - and that's saying something.
