Review: Niagara has always been an intriguing proposition. The trio's music is often brilliant, but frequently thrillingly difficult to pigeonhole. They're at it again on "Apologia", a debut album that's as trippy and otherworldly as it is beautiful, inventive and intoxicating. Over the course of the set's nine tracks, you can expect to hear oddball samples, bright tropical melodies, "Blade Runner"-influenced synthesizer work, sticky Portuguese rhythms, ambient electronics, glitchy electronics, lo-fi drum machine hits, rainforest-ready songs, bustling hand percussion and horizontal aural humidity. In other words, it's a brilliant musical melting pot the likes of which you've never heard before.

Review: Raised in Lisbon by Angolan parents but now residing in Manchester, P Adrix is not your average maker of bass music. Take a listen to this debut album and you'll find a breathless range of African, European and British influences brilliantly melded into intoxicating new shapes. Most of the tracks could be considered Kudoro, though his take on the style - peppered with grime-style eight-bit melodies, traditional Angolan percussion, chopped-up samples and the big, ballsy sub-bass of British dubstep - is not like any Kuduro record you will have heard before. As a result, Album Desconhecido is that rarest of beasts: a full-length release that's as exciting and entertaining as it is revolutionary.

Review: Portuguese label Principe is fully dedicated to releasing 100% real contemporary dance music coming out of Lisbon, its suburbs, projects and slums. New sounds, forms and structures with their own set of poetics and cultural identity. Rinchoa Stress began in 2014 as a group of close friends, even before they started producing. In under two years, they have made a name for themselves with tight, across the board grooves, working melody and metal beats with equal proficiency. Members Narciso and Nuno layed down all compositions here, teaming up as the core producers of RS, growing up post DJs Di Guetto (circa 2006) and into the crew's now regular gigs at Principe's monthly residency at Musicbox in Lisbon.
