Review: The small but already well formed Pina label comes correct with a second volume of edits. This time around offering two superbly vibey house and disco fusion tracks that are rough around the edges, littered with classic samples and freewheeling chords that's the sort of atmospheric jam Moodymann will make his own. After A-side "Do It" with all its The Blackbyrds references comes "Dross"; a more resolved, long legged stomper with fat bass and uplifting chords that comes finished with soul infused vocals. Either way, this is a destructive package.

Review: Pina is a label launched by a Berlin based collective of music aficionados and it puts out limited run 7"s. Each one is stacked with club-ready edits and smart DJ flips that are all simple yet hugely effective and perfectly suited to a range of situations. 'Shitman' is a funky number, the drums are rickety and loose and the synths dart up through the mix. Daubs of colour add a playful feel and some old school vocals add layers of charm. 'One Night In Dallas' goes much slower, getting you in the mood for smooching and intimate dancing.

Review: Another one here from the Pina Edits camp. This Berlin based collective of music aficionados have launched a limited and lovely 7" platform for club-ready flipped classics. On the A side on their sixth edition, we have a properly low slung chugger in the form of 'Soul Tree' which is perfect for the warm-up or afterhours alike, followed on the flip by 'Get Up' with its slow mo tropical polyrhythms, disco guitar licks and dubwise bassline creating for some perfect sunset mood music - tip!

Review: Berlin's shadowy Pina Edits collective can usually be relied upon to deliver dancefloor-friendly material that brilliantly breathes new life into fairly - and sometimes very - familiar cuts. That's certainly the case on this must-check seven-inch single, which opens with a brilliant cut-up concoction that brilliantly stitches together loops and grooves from Steely Dan classic "Peg" with head-nodding house grooves and vocal samples from a sweaty disco-funk gem. Arguably even better - if less obviously party-starting - is ludicrously percussive flipside "IBO", which builds slowly via waves of drums before introducing drowsy deep house chords and some decidedly Balearic flourishes.

Review: The Berlin-based Pina Edits series started up back in 2019, with the versions largely uncredited but clearly the work of people who appreciate pineapples (judging by the artwork). They're coming through with their third release of 2022, leading in with a beautiful, hazy version of 20th Century Steel Band's 'Heaven and Hell is on Earth' entitled 'C64s'. It's slow and housey, with the swirling atmospherics you associate with the likes of Ron Trent. It's tougher to place 'Billy Dance', but there are some classic disco stabs in there to cut through the mellow chords and rolling drum patter. If you need some good-time warmth to get you through the winter months, look no further.

Review: Edit labels never seem handier than when the sun is out and the dancing moves outdoors. There is something about a beefed-up classic or tweaked disco cut that just works when we are all at our most fun-loving. Te Pina label is here to help on that front with a tenth EP of exquisite edits. 'Morrison Hotel' is low-slung house with samples of The Doors and skewed leads all powered by a fulsome bassline. 'Crab' is a funky disco number with chunky drums and claps.
