Soul Muzak
Soul Muzak (brown vinyl 12")
Cat: MM 007. Rel: 04 Aug 20
Deep House
  1. Soul Muzak (6:21)
  2. Soul Muzak (DJ Sneak Banger dub remix) (7:28)
Review: Demuir has plenty of accolades and achievements under his belt, from regular collaborations with DJ Sneak and Cassy to releases on Music For Freaks, Hot Creations, Robsoul and more. Now the Toronto-based artist is on Darius Syrossian's Moxy Muzik with a seriously rubbery slice of peak-time house music to get bodies jacking in the loosest possible way. "Soul Muzak" hinges around a wonky, modulating synth line that will do untold damage in any up-for-it party setting. Demuir's old sparring partner DJ Sneak steps up on the B-side to deliver the "Banger Dub Remix" of the track, honing things down to a tracky bounce in his instantly identifiable house gangster style.

Feelings (coloured vinyl 12" in die-cut sleeve)
Cat: MM 019. Rel: 14 Dec 21
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Feelings (7:14)
  2. Feelings (Andrew Kay remix) (5:36)
  3. Feelings (James Dexter remix) (6:25)
Review: Next up on Darius Syrossian's Moxy Muzik is NYC based producer Maksim Khabarov aka Eskuche with 'Feelings'. A sturdy tech house cut with a bass-driven bounce and disco flourishes throughout, it is backed by a couple of awesome remixes over on the flip that are equally worthy of your attention. Andrew Kay's deep down and dirty rendition is perfect tackle for the afterhours, while fellow Londoner James Dexter serves up a deep and sensual perspective on a more minimal tip.

Cat: MM 021. Rel: 22 Mar 22
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Darius Syrossian - "Mercy Me" (7:36)
  2. Darius Syrossian - "Mercy Me" (Jordan Masters remix) (7:05)
  3. Reelow - "Daft Prunk" (7:12)
  4. Reelow - "Daft Prunk" (MAHONY remix) (6:41)
Review: The first volume in MOXY Muzik's Editions series of multi-artist EPs was an all-star affair, presented on glow-in-the-dark vinyl and released to celebrate the label's third birthday. This sequel is not such a grandiose affair but is every bit as alluring. Label founder Darius Syrossian handles side A, offering up the rave riff-sporting, warehouse-ready peak-time hedonism of 'Mercy Me' (very late 1990s - we approve). This comes backed by an excellent Jordan Masters remix that re-frames the track as a chunky slab of low-slung, bass-heavy deep house/tech-house fusion. Over on the flip, Reelow takes over. The more sparse, minimalistic, funky and acid-flecked 'Daft Prunk' appears first, swiftly followed by Mahony's Isolee inspired micro-house revision.

Moxy Muzik Editions Vol 3
Moxy Muzik Editions Vol 3 (12" in die-cut sleeve)
Cat: MM 026. Rel: 02 Aug 22
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Darius Syrossian & Waff - "You Can't Stop The Dance" (7:06)
  2. Lucas Alexander - "Enter The Who?" (7:35)
  3. Rooleh - "Dont Need You" (5:33)
  4. Fleur Shore - "Summer Of Love" (5:45)
Review: Darius Syrossian's Moxy Muzik label is all about peak-time, sweat-inducing, no-frills, straight-up, well-jacked, classically-informed and robust house music. And that is, once again, exactly what we get here with this third volume of Moxy Muzik Editions. The man himself kicks off with big room techno roller wAFF on a turbo-charged and Detroit-tinged cut, then Lucas Alexander's 'Enter The Who?' slips into more frictionless and catchy tech. Rooleh brings something of a hip house vibe to the bouncing drums of 'Don't Need You' and Fleur Shore impresses with the driving sounds of 'Summer Of Love.'

Lose Control
Lose Control (translucent purple vinyl 12")
Cat: MM 009. Rel: 24 Feb 21
Minimal/Tech House
  1. Lose Control (6:09)
  2. Lose Control (Darius Syrossian remix) (6:46)
  3. Got Sum (5:39)
  4. Got Sum (Nick Beringer remix) (7:28)
Review: Moxy Muzik is one of themes reliable labels for dance floor weaponry that is functional but quality. Once they boss man Darius Syrossian looks to Luuk Van Dijk for his latest bombs, and the boy does good. 'Lose Control' has a sense of tight, punchy garage swing to its bubbling house drums and razor sharp hi hats, and in Syrossian's hands that becomes more dubby, heavy and stripped back. 'Got Sum' then puts drum and bass front and centre to great effect while a final remix from Nick Beringer gets all tripped out for the afters. Perfect stuff.
