Review: Lobster Theremin sub label Mork presents us with newcomer John Fay, who on Mork 10 shows us some glacial and smoked out dub techno textures of the most decayed style. Starting out with "1271" with its deeply rolling groove; it's just so sublime and that pitch shifted monologue gives it that epic feel. "MKV" dives even deeper into the abyss, its overdriven aesthetic only adding to the vibe; all echo laden atmosphere resonating violently.. yet full of bliss. On the flip there's the slow burning closer "Track 3" which signals the full descent into said cavernous depths, beatless for the most part and drowning itself amongst mangled, swirling dub chords and brazen tape hiss; this is some of the best 10 minutes you'll hear all year. Tip!

Review: Grant's debut album, The Acrobat, was one of the surprise sets of 2015: a quietly impressive collection of tracks that effortlessly blended a lo-fi, industrial-influenced sensibility with clear influences from both Chicago jack-tracks and warehouse-friendly Motor City techno. This time round, it's the latter influence - expertly fused with the swing of deep house, the ear-pleasing warmth of ambient house, and the far-sighted electronics of vintage IDM - that comes to the fore. It's a blueprint that guarantees far more hits than misses, as Grant runs through a series of enjoyable, club-ready cuts. It also proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the mysterious producer an artist on the rise.

  2. Everything Has A Return (7:13)
  3. Is It Vibey Is It Yolo (7:25)
Review: Mork's diffusion label sees them pushing different sonic forms from their usual outlet. No Moon opens up the series with second of two 12's full 'of vintage warmth & fire' as the label best put themselves. "I Left My Dial In Pirovac" (part 2) rolls deep through the stratosphere on this cosmic techno journey awash in ethereal pads, rusty drum computers and deep analogue bass. "Everything Has A Return" does yet more deepside electro bass as heard on the previous volume and closing the fine release out with the sublime "Is It Vibey Is It Yolo" which the label named the techno version of Don Henley's "Boys Of Summer" or something to that effect? Fair call!
